Vivekananda College with Twelve years of service for rural girls was the first women college founded in the municipal jurisdiction of Sirkali In 2004 by Mr.K.V.Radhakrishnan, the renowned philanthropist and lifetime Secretary of the college, The College had its humble beginning when it started functioning with four teachers and eleven students. In a short span of a decade. It has grown into a post graduate and research institution with a view to cater to the needs of rural women students in and around Sirkali. To-day the college becomes a mighty and majestic institution all to the credit of Mr. K.V.Radhakrishnan, Madam Anitha Radhakrishnan and Dr.P.Muthukumar. These giants contributed in consolidating the achievements of the College and took it to greater heights, The three great personalities are affectionately known as the triumvirate of Vivekananda College. Under their tutelage and guidance for a decade, the College became an enviable seat of learning and a centre for intellectual activity. The College serves the Women youth of this area, which is semi urban. Majority of our students belong to the low income group families and majority of them are first generation graduates. Their parents are farmers, skilled workers and fishermen; The Management has been a progressive and enlightened one and has been liberally providing funds for the enrichment and empowerment of girls. Acquiring skill over vocabulary and grammar alone will not develop the English fluency of students. For that, Students will have to develop proper listening and speaking skills, which are acquired only through practice. Spoken English class in our college aims at providing this practice.
